Why does he/she hurt me?

There are many reasons why people make the choice to hurt the people they are supposed to love. One thing you have to remember is that it IS a choice. If they weren’t making a choice about who they were going to hurt-they would be hurting everyone. They would be beating their teachers and calling their coaches “ugly and worthless”. Many times batterers make excuses for their abuse, but these are only excuses. Unless a batterer has gone through at least a year of a batterers intervention program they are not going to change. If the batterer tells you that they are really sorry (which they probably are telling you often) and that it won’t happen again-don’t believe them, unless they are getting help. That sounds cold-but you are the one who is being hurt. You deserve better!!!
